WEEK 10 LINES

And...it's week 10. Time for a brief level set of the situation that faces us.

Collier "The Weatherman" Mills has the biggest lead in Unified Fund history at $885. Yet, Collier, a Mickelson-like character in both his love for donuts and mental weakness, is not thinking about winning right now. He's thinking about holding on. Playing not to lose. Trying to figure out how he's not going to choke away the LARGEST LEAD in Unified Fund history. This conflict of mind and body will ultimately lead to him making a catastrophic mistake - such as taking a driver off the 72nd hole at Winged Foot...or wearing tight pinstriped pants with a white belt.

After Mills, the next 5 Unified Fund combatants (Strait, Mansfield, J Furn, Kessler, and Shade)are lumped together all less than $80 apart. A few hundred back of them, the historically conservative Saunders continues to play his game. Saunders' record is 13 games below .500, but his displined, steady play resembles Kinnish from Rounders. And I think we all respect that, even if you've never seen Rounders.

Then you have Mr. Hill, who is leading the Unified Fund with a whopping 91 bets made this year (an average of 10.1 bets a week). He's not going to win any bonus money for winning %, that's for sure, but his go-for-broke style makes you respect him...or, make you wonder how he could possibly win any money continuing on this pace.

Furnas and Mobley have fallen on hard times, but seem to be willing their way back into contention. Furnas had a hot start to the season, but didn't know how to handle success. Reports are that after his perfect 4-0 week Furnas, Furnas began a downward spiral that included Furnas admitting that he "hates Unified Fund", along with Crystal Meth usage. Furnas actually tested positive for drugs during one of the UF required random drug test screenings a few weeks ago, but he wrote an apology letter claiming it was a one-time thing and it was unintentional...so he avoided a suspension from Unified Fund Discplinary Chairman (Eller, that's you). He also admitted to wearing a weave in the late 90s.

Behind Furnas and Mobley you have Unified Fund Rookie Brian Q. Hall. After a torrid start to the season (even though he had a UF high 2 scratches), Hall was riding high near the top of the leaderboard. Then week 8 and week 9 happened. Hall went an astonishing 2-10 to lose $1,080. It's a cold streak that we haven't seen before here at the Unified Fund.

Then there's Eller...who has been at the bottom of the Unified Fund leaderboard since...well, about week 11 of last year. Eller's current stimulus plan seems to be a weekly dose of 3 $10 bets, and then putting the remaining $100 on those same 3 teams in a Parlay. I'm not a mathematician, but this strategy seems highly terrible. If you go 2-1 you lose $90. Eller, I'm rooting for you. Give yourself a chance. Remember, allowances stop this year after Week 17.

That wasn't very brief. Here are this week's lines...
