Here are the rules and regulations. I'm willing to hear suggested modifications.
Entry: $20
How it Works
- On Wednesday of every week, we will post lines from a consistent source (I'm open to suggestions on the book) to all NFL games for that week. Those will be the lines and the only lines we use for selection purposes.
- Each competitor is given $100 Fantasy dollars at the beginning of each week.
- Minimum bet is $10. Competitors may bet on as many games as they wish.
- Any winnings will add to the competitor's balance and be available for use the next week.
- Winners pay out 1:1.
- Ties will result in a push, and competitor will receive their money back.
- Each competitor must post his selections to this site before kickoff of their intended game. Picks not posted before kickoff will be voided.
NFL Weeks 11-17
- Picks against the spread only
Playoffs
- Picks against the spread will be available as well as Money Lines
Let me know feedback. Let's go.
Well done, Key Component Shade. I like where your head's at.
ReplyDeleteHere are two amendments i'd like to propose to the UFS (united fund sportsbook) rules and regulations:
the 1st amendment: Any participant who fails to place any bets in a sanctioned week of play will be penalized 40 dollars. the purpose of this rule is to encourage gamesmanship and keep anyone from ignoring their Unified Fund responsibilites.
the 2nd amendment: During the regular season all participants are required to place bets in NO LESS than 2 games on a weekly basis. i propose this amendment as a means of promoting passion, research, a greater investment in Sunday outcomes, and the prevention from everyone theoretically making the exact same bet in one week.
i formally propose these amendments for the ratification process.
I think these are good thoughts... and it sounds to me like the 2nd amendment takes care of the 1st amendment.
ReplyDeleteYou must bet on 2 games a week, therefore, you must bet every week.
If you don't bet, you do not pass go, and you do not receive $100 for the week.
That sounds like a winner.
yeah... the purpose of the 1st amendment was primarily to put a monetary penalty on the slackers who 'forget' or get 'too busy' to make their picks prior to the games on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteit's like playing in a poker tournament with a guy who keeps getting up to go talk on his cell phone. technically it's legal... but it ruins the spirit of the game.
...which is why i recommend a penalty to prevent such reprehensible behavior. The magnitude of that penalty is obviously up for debate.
i like the proposed changes...although i wouldn't mind seeing the minimum bet upped to 4...this will avoid picking only "cup cake" games and would forece competitors to choose at least one close game...
ReplyDeletescratch that... we're on the same page. i didn't realize that you got $100 each week. i thought you only got $100 at the beginning of the season.
ReplyDeleteyeah... sounds like a good plan.
i'm michael eller and i approve this message.
Yeah, the more I think of it, we probably do want a minimum of 4 games bet. The last thing we want is for everyone to jump on the same games.
ReplyDeleteOnce we get to the playoffs, there will be no minimum.
That way, if people want to let it ride all on one game or moneyline to come back, they can.
I like the activity, boys. You guys are focused up.
