Week 13: CARNAGE

My Sunday could have been better. I stood in 37 degrees and pouring rain for 5 straight hours watching my Redskins get dominated by the Giants (up close, Brandon Jacobs is biggest dude I've ever seen). I was cold, soaked, and pretty much completely miserable. My only bright spot: as we walked out of the stadium, I saw the scores from around the NFL flash - and I saw Packers 28, Panthers 21 - 4th quarter. So, although I had just contracted pnemonia and my team had lost the game and most likely a chance at the playoffs, it appeared that at least my $400 bet on the Packers was going to pay off.

That was, until we walked out of the stadium, lost all bearings on where we parked, and took a full 20-minute lap around the outside of the stadium in search of our car. Once we finally found the car, I turned on the radio, and heard Panthers 35, Packers 31. Dagger.

But, at least I wasn't alone. Week 13 dominated many of us. Every big play failed - most notably the plays on the Colts who got screwed by the hook...

- Strait lost $480.
- Shade lost $350.
- Eller lost $320.
- Mobley lost $140.
- Hill lost $120.
- Mills lost $120.
- Kessler lost $35.

HOWEVER, there were some winners. The leader kept things going with an impressive 3-1 record. And, in the comeback of the year, Furnas went 4-0 and climbed back into serious contention. Also, Stink took over 2nd place by playing it smart and only betting a third of his balance - it was a good week to do that. The winners were:

- Furnas - $120.
- Mansfield - $50.
- Stink - $10.

Overall as a group, our records combined are 69-52-0, a winning percentage of 57%.

It's going to get sweaty as the regular season winds down. And as always, I'm talking rainforest sweaty.

DISCLAIMER: Just so everyone knows, I was laying it on a little thick about the game - I don't deserve any sympathy. Our seats were ridiculous - I could have reached out and smacked Corey Webster in the face while he was warming up at halftime if I wanted to (and, yes, I wanted to). Despite the loss, the bad weather, the hammered Giants fans next to us...it was a blast.

  1. i'm ashamed of myself. that's two weeks in a row of being on the wrong side of a .5 point bet.

maybe if i didn't suck so much, i'd pick blowout games instead of the ones that come down to the wire.

if anyone's looking for me, i'll be laying in the grave that i dug for myself over the past two weeks.

    pathetic...

  2. don't be so hard on yourself eller...my only two losses are both on the wrong side of a .5 point bet. just two points the other direction and I'd be 12-0.
